Sometimes you’re able to do things that just make you feel good.  And Jacki had that opportunity, as she was the event photographer for Cupcake Camp Dallas.  It was an awesome event, featuring the best bakers in North Texas all coming together to raise money to benefit the LEAP Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical services to people around the world in the love of Jesus Christ.  Jacki was honored to help, and who wouldn’t be around all this sweetness?  And the cupcakes, too!

We photographed our second vow renewal of the year yesterday.  We don’t normally do a lot of them, but yesterday’s was magic.

I met Warren at Adriatica’s open house a couple of weeks ago, and I was so impressed and had such a positive vibe after speaking with him.

He and his wife of 40 years, Kris, renewed their vows at Adriatica, and we were so happy to photograph and experience this great event.  I was touched by the overwhelming love in the room, at their unwavering commitment to one another, their loving family and the fact that they have led such a loyal and dedicated walk with the Lord.  I was inspired.  I think you’ll see why!

First, the amazing 700 year old European gate and the brand new Bella Donna Chapel at Adriatica.

Many people ask us what editing we do to our photographs before delivering them to the clients.

The answer is, everything we can to make the image as great as it can possibly be, but without over doing it.

Many photographers have adopted the style of over processing their images.  Too much vignette, too much saturation, too much sharpening, skin so creamy that it looks like plastic from a Barbie doll.

Our style is much more organic.  We want people to look like people, not dolls.  We will always help photos with post processing skill, but we won’t take an image, convert it to black and white, and then color the rose back in.  We can do that if our client insists, but I don’t know any exceptional photographers who would show that kind of image on their website or blog.  Notice that the really great ones don’t…they just don’t.

Here is an example of what we do.  The before shot is perfectly framed and exposed, and this shot is right out of the camera.

The after shot is how it might look if we sprinkle some of our fairy dust on it.  Notice the differences in the sky, and especially the cedar tree on the right hand side of the frame.  It’s very difficult to lower the exposure on one part of a photograph while raising it on another.  More on this subject later!
